DATA COLLECTION
Here you will find all the data I have obtained through my previous research, deskresearch and interviews.
In 2019, I made a master's thesis 'A Drummers Mindset' as research for my master at the Rotterdam CODARTS conservatory. Mainly the drum method D.R.O.P. system (D.R.O.P. stands for Dynamic, Rate, Orchestration and Phrasing) of the American jazz drum Mark Guiliana was the focus of this research. With this master's thesis, I translated the drum methods into exercises for the melodic and harmonic instrument.
In 2020, I made a master's thesis for the Educative Master's programme at the Royal Conservatoire of Brussels & RITCS, school of Arts Erasmus Hogeschool Brussels in line with "A drummers Mindset". In this follow-up study "D.R.O.P. system for everyone", the exercises were applied in part-time art education with the aim of providing a didactic rhythmic hold for jazz/pop/rock students in part-time art education.
For the research project "The power of rhythm in jazz improvisation & compositions" I collected data through desk research and interviews. The proces and findings can be found below.
